In a recent encounter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, two militants were killed by security forces, according to a statement by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The two militants were identified as Riyaz Ahmad Dar and Rayees Ahmad, both hailing from Pulwama’s Kakapora village. Dar had been associated with militant activities since September 2015 and had evaded capture by security forces on multiple occasions. Ahmad, on the other hand, had joined the militant ranks more recently, in 2021.
The encounter unfolded when a joint team comprising personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and paramilitary forces received specific intelligence regarding the presence of militants in Pulwama’s Nehama village. The bodies of the two militants were recovered following the conclusion of the operation, and their identities and affiliations were being officially ascertained by authorities.
